Garth McLean

A Global Iyengar Yoga Teacher's Six-Year Marketing Team.

Garth McLean is a Los Angeles-based Iyengar yoga teacher who tours globally, with a therapeutic focus on students living with Multiple Sclerosis. Gaviso has been his outsourced tech and marketing team since 2020 — through platform churn, agency rebrands, and every login reset in between.

The Challenge

Garth teaches. He does not want to touch tech. His site runs on WordPress with Elementor, his newsletters run on whichever email platform is being deprecated this year, his students book classes through Punchpass, and his invoices land in whatever gateway Stripe has decided to re-verify this quarter. Between those systems, a global travel schedule, and a niche audience — Iyengar practitioners, MS students, workshop attendees in the UK, Belgium, and Bulgaria — the operational load is real. His own words, in a November 2025 exchange about verifying an email sending domain: "This tech stuff is all beyond my understanding." What he needed was the outsourced tech department a global solo-brand teacher never gets.

The Approach

We run Garth's WordPress and Elementor stack — hosting, backups, security (SiteLock, then CleanTalk when SiteLock became overpriced), plugin updates, and DNS. Email marketing has moved with him as platforms have changed: Mailchimp originally, then a switch to CopperSend in November 2024 to save $15 a month, then a switch to a new enterprise sender in mid-2025 — each move including subscriber-list migration, sending-domain verification, and a rebuilt welcome sequence he co-wrote with us. A 2024 homepage refresh pulled his student testimonials — including video — above the fold with a new carousel. Content ops include uploading press features (UK Yoga magazine, August 2024), fixing SEO problems as they surface (a UK student flagged outdated 2020 workshop dates in Google in June 2026), and every login reset, credit-card update, and ICANN renewal notice that would otherwise land in his inbox and stay there.

The Outcome

Six continuous years — from October 2020 through July 2026 and running — across an agency rebrand and every platform migration in between. Retainers run in the $30-79 a month range, which is what a solo global teacher can carry. Not one of those months has been about him understanding the stack. Retention on a small-budget solo brand — held through a redesign he chose to pursue elsewhere, held through platform migrations most agencies would have used as an exit — is its own outcome.
